Frequently Asked Questions
Plain answers about what Berlin ICC certifies, how verification works and how your data is handled.
What is Berlin ICC?
Berlin International Certification Center (Berlin ICC) is an independent, private-sector certification and quality assurance body operated by TALKTOWEB Berlin GmbH in Berlin, Germany. It evaluates professional training programs against the Berlin ICC Quality Framework and authorizes compliant institutions to issue verifiable certificates.
Does Berlin ICC provide training or sell certificates?
No. Berlin ICC does not deliver courses and does not sell certificates to individuals. Certificates are issued only through Authorized Issuing Partners to participants who have completed an audited program (and, for a Certificate of Achievement, passed the partner's assessment).
Is a Berlin ICC certificate a degree, diploma or license?
No. Berlin ICC certificates are private-sector proof of practical skill and professional capability. They are not academic degrees, university diplomas, state-recognized vocational qualifications or professional licenses, and they do not replace qualifications required by law for regulated professions in any country — including Germany.
Is Berlin ICC accredited?
Berlin ICC is not accredited by a national accreditation body (e.g. DAkkS) and does not claim accreditation under ISO/IEC 17024, ISO/IEC 17065 or ASTM E2659. The Berlin ICC Quality Framework is a proprietary standard informed by these internationally recognized principles. See our transparency statement on the About page.
What is the difference between a Certificate of Achievement and a Certificate of Attendance?
A Certificate of Achievement is issued only after the participant has passed the partner institution's assessment (exam, graded project or practical evaluation). A Certificate of Attendance confirms completed participation in an audited program without a graded assessment. The type is stated on the certificate and in the registry record.
How can an employer verify a certificate?
Enter the Certificate Identification Number (CIN) printed on the certificate at berlinicc.com/verify, or scan the QR code. The registry returns the holder name, program, issuing partner, issue date and status. No account is needed and we never ask for national ID or passport numbers.
The certificate number cannot be found. What does that mean?
Either the number was entered incorrectly, or the document is not a valid Berlin ICC certificate. Check the number, then contact info@berlinicc.com or use the misuse report on the Policies page. Certificates issued by institutions not listed in the public Partner Register are not valid.
Can a certificate be revoked?
Yes. A certificate may be revoked if it was obtained through fraud or misrepresentation, if the partner's authorization for that program is withdrawn for cause, or if the holder requests it. Revoked certificates remain in the registry marked as revoked. See the Certification Policies.
How is my personal data protected?
The registry stores only the data needed for verification (name, certificate number, program, issuing partner, issue date). Data is hosted on servers in Frankfurt, Germany, and processed under the GDPR / DSGVO. You may request rectification of your name on a certificate or erasure of your record at any time.
Can I add the certificate to LinkedIn?
Yes. The verification page offers an “Add to LinkedIn” button that pre-fills the Licenses & Certifications entry with the program name, issuing organization, certificate ID and verification URL. You can also share the verification link directly.
How does an institution become an Authorized Issuing Partner?
Submit the application form on the For Institutions page. Berlin ICC reviews your curricula and assessment methods against the Quality Framework, and on a positive review a written partnership agreement is signed. Partners are listed in the public register and audited periodically.
How do I file a complaint or appeal?
Complaints about a certificate, a partner institution or a Berlin ICC decision can be sent to info@berlinicc.com. The complaints and appeals procedure, including time limits, is published on the Certification Policies page.
Is a Berlin ICC certificate “valid worldwide”?
We deliberately do not use the word “valid”, because it suggests a state qualification. A Berlin ICC certificate is internationally recognized in the private sector: employers, technology companies and agencies in any country can verify it in the registry and rely on it as evidence of practical competence. It does not create equivalence to a national degree, diploma or license anywhere.
What does the EQF reference on some certificates mean?
Some partner programs design their learning outcomes with reference to a level of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Where that is the case, the certificate says so. It is a design reference reviewed by Berlin ICC — not a classification or recognition by the European Union or a national qualifications authority.
